Another Sunny Day
The next poem is a little older 1995 according to my notes and clearly was wrote
knowing me in the middle of Longford Park watching the events below happen.
Enjoy
Andy
On another sunny day
I sit in another crowded
busy park
relaxing after another
heart breaking day at work
in the shadows of the bushes
far away from home
far away from the sun
but relaxing
enjoying the summer
and enjoying life
picking up a pen
from within the darkest reaches
of my endless seeming pockets
and begin to write
describing the hotness of the weather
describing the people sitting nearby
passing through
or walking far away in the distance
describing life
and some of the mysteries
surroundering and covering it
and the people who chatter within it
writing for fun
writing as a way to relax
playing the observer
watching the people
watching things.
I see a couple
arguing
over some major
or something minir
(take your pick)
i can hear them
cursing each other
with every swear word
under the sun,
He is calling her a slag
she is calling him a alocholic
once upon a time
i would have took sides mentually
tried to pick who was right
and wrong
did he drink heavy
because of her constant sleeping around
did she sleep around
because of his over the top dancing?
Once upon a time
i would have pondered this
until i was blue i the face.
Once I would have worked out my answer
during the course of this poem
bouncing the answer in my knee
weighing up both sides
until I had finished arguing with
myself.
Once.
Once.
Now I am older
I have learned to explore things in
a complete different manner
Have learned to look at things
from a different angle.
Now I wouldn't neccasry take sides
and try to decide
who is and isn't right.
Now I am content to write
and describe
and try and make the characters
seem alive
and real
I still write emotional poems
things that concern me
frighten me
horrify me
but now as i try to understnad
i try to paint a balanced picture
no mattter when in summer
or winter.
